Guwahati: Private Hospitals, Malls, Bars Etc Asked To Submit Safety Certificates In 30 days

Guwahati: The Kamrup (M) District Administration on Monday asked all private hospitals, shopping malls, bars, restaurants, Cineplex etc to take all the required safety measures and submit the certificate of the same within 30 days.

In this regard, the district administration issued a order, wherein, it observed that private hospitals, shopping malls, pubs, bars, restaurants, cineplex in Guwahati city where there is a large congregation of the public do not maintain the basic minimum safety requirements like fire safety, electric safety and other emergency provisions for tackling any eventuality.

''Several incidents have happened in recent times due to non-maintenance of these basic safety requirements leading to loss of life and property,'' it noted.

The district administration also noted that the owners of the establishments also give the least importance to the safety aspect of the establishments which makes the patients, attendants, guests and visitors in a vulnerable position.

Moreover, it has been observed that such establishments do not maintain the food safety norms and do not adhere to the provisions of the Essential Commodities Act 1955, it said.

''In the view of the above, I Shri Pallav Gopal Jha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Kamrup (M) direct all Private hospitals, Shopping Mall, Bars, Restaurants, Cineplex etc. to take all the required safety measures and submit updated safety certificate from the concerned departments to the undersigned within 30 days without fail,'' the order read.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that non-submission of the updated Safety Certificate will lead to suspension/cancellation of license of the defaulting establishments.
