Guwahati: Properties Worth Lakhs Gutted in Massive Fire at Basistha

GUWAHATI: A massive fire that broke out in Guwahati's Basistha area on Saturday morning.

The incident took place at a confectionery making industry at Lotakata in Basistha.

As per reports, the fire is suspected due to a leakage of a cylinder in the factory, owing to which one house was completely burnt down to ashes by the blazing inferno that spread to the adjacent house.

Properties worth lakhs of rupees have been gutted down in the massive fire. All valuable items of the house including all important documents have been burnt down.

Meanwhile, two fire tenders have been deployed to douse the blazing flame, however, no injuries or loss of lives have been reported in the incident.

Earlier, a massive fire erupted in Karbi Anglong West district of Assam on the night of June 29. The incident took place in the Jengkha Bazar area and it led to properties worth several lakh rupees getting razed.

According to reports, the police officials informed that several shops and business establishments incurred damages due to the fire.

Later, the locals and fire tenders reportedly managed to keep the situation under control.
