Guwahati Refinery gifts spectacles to needy persons

GUWAHATI: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Guwahati Refinery (GR) on Thursday distributed free prescribed spectacles to around 113 beneficiaries belonging to marginalized sections of Noonmati and its adjacent areas.

In a programme organized at the Community Development Hall, these spectacles were handed over to the respective beneficiaries in the presence of Manoj Patir, Deputy General Manager (Employee Services) and representatives from Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati.

A press release mentioned that on February 26 this year, Guwahati Refinery conducted a free eye screening camp for the marginalized people of Noonmati and its adjacent areas in collaboration with Sri Sankardeva Nethralaya, Guwahati. The camp was attended by around 300 persons from the nearby localities.

Out of these 300, some were prescribed for requisite eye operation whereas some of them were prescribed spectacles. The programme of free spectacle distribution carried out today was a follow-up to the free eye screening camp conducted earlier.
