GUWAHATI: After several struggles to get clean drinking water the residents of Guwahati can now hope this long wish to end as GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania has said that residents will get clean drinking water in 2- 3 days.

In the recent floods that occurred in Guwahati, the residents along with dirty floodwaters also received muddy water when they tried to open the tap.

Cases were reported where people had to collect yellowish contaminated water from the taps for drinking. The residents of Chanmari, Uzan Bazar, and Kharghuli were seen to be the worst affected.

Recently state GDD minister Ashok Singhal said to the media that due to some problems the issue of clean drinking water was slowed down but assured that this mechanism of getting clean water would be partially resolved and residents would get relief from it by July end.

Now the newly appointed GMC mayor Mrigen Sarania told that residents of Guwahati will be getting clean water in 2- 3 days.

Speaking to the media, Mrigen Sarania said, the Satpukhuri water filters were being cleaned and for this purpose, the people were facing woos. He said the filters were not cleaned for the last 2 years and for the same now the filters had to be cleaned and that's why the time is being taken to get the filters cleaned and provide people with the clean water. He clarified after 2- 3 days clean water shall be provided.

Clean drinking water had been a long waited problem to be solved for the residents of Guwahati.

Many people from the areas Kharghuli, Chanmari, Uzan Bazar, Silpukhuri, Nabin Nagar, Anil Nagar etc. faced this problem.

Thus, after the notification from the mayor, it can be noted that the problem will be rested as clean water is believed to be received and also consumable by the residents within 2- 3 days.
