Guwahati shopkeepers must carry COVID-19 report on person at all times: Govt

This new rule has been brought into effect as part of the Guwahati Unlock Phase 1 which will be applicable for two weets

Guwahati: Assam Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna in an order today stated that all persons, including shopkeepers, who come in close contact with the public, must carry their COVID-19 negative report on their person at all times.

"All shopkeepers, employees, delivery persons, technical repair personnel, and any person coming in close contact with members of the public must get themselves tested for COVID-19 and must carry test results on their person at all times", read the Chief Secretary's order. Meanwhile, the shops will be kept open from Monday through Friday on non-curfew hours (6 am to 6 pm). However, the malls, gymnasiums, cinema halls, yoga centers, and all places of the public gathering shall remain closed.

According to the Chief Secretary's notification, "any person violating these measures will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC, and other legal provisions as applicable."
