The bus driver, identified as Bipul Boro, has been arrested, according to authorities. In connection with the incident, the bus's handyman has also been detained.

Priya Kumari, a Class 11 student of Little Flower School, has been identified as the victim.

Priya was riding pillion with her sister when a Royal Global University bus collided with the scooty, killing the youngster. Her older sister was injured and was sent to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the accident happened in front of the Rajdhani Masjid in Ganeshguri. Apart from the bus's rapid speed, angry locals blamed the tragedy on the availability of dug-up roads in the city.

On the other hand , on Wednesday, the father of the student was savagely thrashed by a group of senior students of Guwahati's Gurukul Grammar School for objecting to his kid being ragged by the unruly bunch of students in yet another spectacular episode of ragging in educational institutions in Assam.

According to sources, a male student in class XI at Gurukul Grammar School was allegedly ragged by his seniors. When the student's father spoke up against the ragging, the students began beating him black and blue, leaving him severely damaged.

However, a video that came out later pointed out that the reason for the accident was caused because of a hole that was dug there, and not by the school bus driver.
