GUWAHATI: The Deputy Commissioner of Guwahati Police Traffic issued a notice that stated the rules for idol emersion. This initiative comes in as a measure to safeguard the general public, especially  road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, and people with disabilities, while on the road.

According to the notice, on the day of Goddess Durga Devi's immersion on October 5, 2022, restrictions would be imposed on the movement of vehicles in the city.

The limitations will be effective from 1 PM on October 5, 2022, and will last through the entire time immersion goes on.

The notice mentioned that all the vehicles coming from Chandmari side to Jalukbari side, excluding the idol-carrying vehicles will be diverted through GNB Road, TC Point, and RBI Point to Panbazar over the bridge at North Point. It further added,"The vehicles must then turn left and proceed to AT Road for their respective destinations."

"No cars, except those carrying idols, should be permitted to turn right at the District Library point from GNB Road to KLB Road."

"All cars going from Jalukbari, Bharalumukh side to Chandmari, Dispur side shall be regulated at Apollo Point on MG Road and diverted via TRP Road, then to HB Road or AT Road," it stated. These vehicles must use either HB Road (towards Chandmari, Noonmati, and Geetanagar) or AT Road (towards Dispur and Khanapara) to reach KLB Road.

"All vehicles entering Uzanbazar, Kharghuli, and Noonmati shall be controlled and diverted via Tayabullah Road and GNB Road."

"TRP Road and HB Road will be one-way from Apollo Point," it added.

"All idol-bearing vehicles arriving from the Chandmari side must be regulated at TC Point and redirected via MC Road, FC Road, and MG Road," the notice added.

It also stated that idol-carrying cars from Tokobari, Paltanbazar, Ulubari, Rehabari, Birubari, Chatribari, Bishnupur, and Lalganesh regions must use either (a) BK Kakoti Road, Ulubari, GS Road, Paltanbazar, Panbazar Road over the bridge, MLN Road, and MG Road, or (b) AK Azad Road, Nepali Mandir.

The notice further mentioned, "Idol carrying cars from Kumarpara, Athgaon, and Fatasil regions shall travel to Kaachomarighat through AT Road, TRP Road, Kedar Road, and MG Road." Vehicles transporting idols from Rajgarh, Bhangagarh, and Christianbasti would use GS Road, Bhangagarh Road, RG Barooah Road (Zoo Road), GNB Road, Guwahati Club, TC Point, MC Road, FC Road, and MG Road.

Vehicles carrying idols from Ganeshguri, Dispur and Kahilipara regions are to go from Ganeshguri via RG Barooah Road (Zoo Road), GNB Road, Guwahati Club, TC Point, MC Road, FC Road and MG Road. No cars transporting idols shall be permitted to travel on the B.Baruah road from Ulubari to the TC point."
