Guwahati: A woman sustained severe injuries after a fierce scuffle broke out between two groups over a rooster in the Nagarbera area under Kamrup district here on Monday.

The injured woman identified as Fufatan Nessa sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Nagarbera Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment.

Reportedly, it has been alleged that the victim woman was beaten up by her three brothers-in-law named Hashem, Yunus and Maqbool after her rooster entered her relative's house in the neighbourhood in search of food.

In this regard, a case has been registered by the victim woman at Nagarbera police station and further investigations are underway.

In October last year, in a similar incident, one person was allegedly killed during a feud which took place due to a goat destroying a neighbour's paddy field in Assam's Darrang district.

The accused identified as Khuna Miya allegedly attacked victim Usman Goni on his head with a sharp object.

The conversation between the two men turned ugly and Miya got angry when someone came to his house to complain about his goat. In a fit of rage, he attacked Goni and allegedly killed him.

The victim was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition, however, he succumbed to his injuries.

Following this family of the victim registered an FIR against the accused and six other persons after which the police initiated an investigation.

Another incident of goats, the menace was reported from the border area of India-Bangladesh, several persons were injured because of a goat.

According to reports, the incident occurred because a goat ate all the bean plants of one Abdul Kadir.

Post consumption, in the middle of the conversation, between Giyasuddin, the goat owner, and Abdul Kadir, some people from Giyasuddin side attack Abdul Kadir and his two brothers, injuring them severely.

"It's because of the Giyasuddin goat all the incident happened, had the goat didn't eat all the bean plants the fight would not have occurred. Giyasuddin peoples tried to kill Abdul and his brother." a local said.

Meanwhile, Abdul's brother asserted, that the people of Giyasuddin wanted to kill us, just because our goat eats the plants.

"We want justice, law should punish them, if any one of us die we will not spare them. We will kill them too," he added.
