
Guwahati: The police have detained a youth after he allegedly over-took Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's convoy on the night of June 5.
As per reports, a youngster riding a two-wheeler, having registration number AS 01E Y 7674), overtook the chief minister's convoy in the Maligaon area of Guwahati.
The accused has been identified as 21-year-old youth named Narayan Sarkar, who was nabbed by the traffic police while they were involved in a vehicle inspection.
Subsequently, the police seized the two-wheeler.
Notably, in January this year, the Assam Cabinet had decided to reduce the number of cars to six in the Chief Minister's convoy while travelling within the Guwahati Metropolitan area.
While travelling in other areas or districts, the Chief Minister's convoy will consist of 12 cars, excluding the escort and pilot cars.
During the road travel of CM, traffic will not be disrupted beforehand and if required, may be paused for a period of not exceeding two minutes.
