GUWAHATI: The Dispur Press Club gave the awards to its recipients on Saturday in various categories for the year 2023, as announced earlier. The programme was held in the auditorium of the Lok Nirman Department (PWD) convention centre in Dispur. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of senior journalists Pranoy Bordoloi, Amal Gupta, Baikuntha Nath Goswami, President of Gauhati Press Club Sushmita Goswami, Xahitya Akademi Award Winner Bandita Phukan, President of Dispur Press Club Dr. Naren Hazarika, general secretary Kunja Mohan Roy, and others.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Diganta Barah said, “There is a relationship between the police and the media. But due to some strategic reasons, police sometimes have to keep distance with the media.” Senior journalist Pranoy Bordoloi thanked the Dispur Press Club for conferring the awards to the recipients. The award ceremony is in association with the state-level advisory committee on student and youth welfare of the Assam government.

The following are the lists of winners: Sanjiv Kumar Phukan of Dainik Janambhumi was conferred for the Editor Award. Bhaben Dutta from Axomiya Pratidin, Hemanta Sharma of DY365, and Sunil Bora of News Live received the Journalist Award. The Photo Journalist Award was conferred on Samarendra Sharma of The Assam Tribune. Video Journalist Award was given to Abani Bezbarua of Pratidin Time. Suchim Ranjan Ghosh from Dainik Asom got the Sports Journalist Award. Pubali Sharma from NB Live gets the News Anchor Award.

Sarupathar MLA Biswajit Phookan has been named for the Karmayogi Award. Police Commissioner, Guwahati, Diganta Barah, got the Public Welfare Police Award. Arjun Chetry from the Sports and Youth Welfare Directorate got the Public Welfare Award, and Prasenjit Borah is named for the Actor Award. Former student leader Nurul Haque for the Harmony Award, Himu Rajbongshi (Executive Council, KAC) for the Friend of Youth Award, and Dr. Phanidhar Adhikari (Educationalist) for the Social Worker Award.

Manoj Saraf for the Entrepreneur Award, Manash Pratim Das for Youth Politics, Dipanwita Deka for the Emerging Vocal Artist Award, and Richa Chetry for the Female Actor Award. Friend of Media Award for Chandan Saikia from DIPR. Dhanashree Baishya for the Youtuber Award. Bikash Barua from Bir Lachit Sena for the Courage Award, Dipali Barman for the Pioneer Woman Award, Pawan Agarwala for the Progress Award, and Sankar Gohain from All Assam Journalists Welfare Trust for the Journalist Organizer Welfare Award.
