Hailakandi MLA Anwar Hussain Laskar slams Mominul Aowal’s ‘bogus scheme’

GUWAHATI: Assam Minorities Development Board (AMDB) Chairman Mominul Aowal has been accused of releasing phoney advertisement during the first week of March. Aowal in the advertisement announced of a beneficiary scheme for the indigenous Muslims like the Goriya, Moriya, Desi, Joloha, Maimal and Sayed.

As per the scheme, aid for the unemployed of the said Muslim communities by providing commercial vehicles, Photostat machine, sewing machine, computer and printer for free was announced by Aowal. Asking for applicants to benefit from the scheme, the advertisement was published in newspapers.

At a press communiqué on Friday, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Hailakandi MLA Anwar Hussain Laskar questioned the authenticity of the advertisement. “AMDB’s scheme has no fund against it”, he informed, “The advertisement is illegal and bogus, formulated to cheat the minorities. The scheme will budget around Rs 200 crore, but they have only around Rs 2 crore in the name of funds. Moreover, certain people have even been collecting money through the application form in the minority areas.”

Laskar further asserted that the Assam Government and Welfare of Minorities and Development Department had no knowledge of the scheme. “They have no fund or approval from the Government. Even the Director of AMDB denies knowledge of the advertisement. The scheme was formulated according to Aowal’s self devised plan to provoke differences between the minorities keeping the Lok Sabha elections on target.”

Questioning the audacity of Aowal, Laskar demanded to know how the advertisement was printed on paper without the knowledge of the Government, Chief Minister and the Welfare of Minorities and Development Department. “This has happened because the Chief Minister has lost control over the Chairman. CM should take action against Aowal and depose off him”, Laskar demanded.
