Himanta Biswa Sarma lambasts Congress for dual stand on Citizenship Issue

Guwahati: Lambasting the Congress party, State Finance Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma following the half an hour house adjournment at the first day of the Budget Session alleged the Congress party for its dual stand on the issue of providing Citizenship to the Hindu Bengalis in the state.

Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned that earlier under the Congress regime, then Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi provided an affidavit through which they demanded granting citizenship to Hindu Bengalis in the state.

Himanta also alleged North Karimganj Legislator, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha to be involved in bringing Trinamool Congress party members from West Bengal to the state following the publishing of the second NRC draft in order to create a chaotic situation in the state. “If needed, I will provide evidence about the matter,” said Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today.

The Minister also claimed that several people and organizations are misusing the social media networks.

The Minister during his speech also termed Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to be an emotional party. “We are sure that we can reform the alliance with the AGP party and BJP will be successful for yet another clean sweep in the Lok Sabha elections with more majorities,” Himanta claimed.

Furthermore, the Finance Minister of the state mentioned that the Government has been looking in all the present situation of the state and will take steps accordingly after the NRC and Lok Sabha elections.

Also, the finance minister of the state, Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the judgment of the 2008 Assam bombings case. Around 14 accused have been convicted today by the CBI special court in Guwahati.
