Himanta inspects roads, drains at 6 Mile area

Guwahati, June 10: Assam PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is continuing with his mission of inspecting ongoing construction works by the department. On Sunday, the PWD Minister inspected the condition of roads in the 6th Mile area of the city, including the VIP Road. The minister was accompanied during the inspection by senior PWD officials. He also inspected the ongoing drain and culvert construction in the area.

At the end of the inspection, Sarma instructed the PWD officials to take up all such construction works in the area on a war footing and complete the same at the earliest.

The general public is of the view that the ongoing construction and repair works of the roads, drains and the culverts in the area have been progressing at a snail’s pace on account of which the locals and the passersby are being forced to face the brunt. However, they are hopeful that with the concerned Minister having visited the area and having taken a first hand report of the situation, the ongoing works would pick up momentum.

It may be recalled that Himanta Biswa Sarma had recently made similar visits to some other areas of the city and passed the necessary orders to the concerned officials for improvement of road condition and proper drainage.
