GUWAHATI: China recently released its official ‘standard map’, including Arunachal Pradesh as part of its territory. The Hindu Yuba-Chattra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA) has reacted strongly against this.

In a press statement, The Hindu Yuba-Chattra Parishad, Asom president Bolen Baishya said, “Between issues like the eviction drives and crackdown against child marriage in Assam and the violence in Manipur, the issue of China including Arunachal Pradesh within its territory in its standard map did not get priority. The Centre’s silence on this issue is also condemnable. The attempt by China to include Arunachal Pradesh in its territory is a matter of concern for the people.”

He made a fervent appeal to the people of the country to boycott goods made in China. “Cheap Chinese goods have flooded the Indian markets. People prefer to buy these cheap goods instead of the goods produced by local manufacturers. Our country will not become aatmanirbhar in the true sense if this dependency on Chinese goods continues.”

Baishya also said, “Assam’s lifeline – the Brahmaputra– flows from Tibet. China is planning to build dams on the Brahmaputra. If this happens, China will control the flow of water of the Brahmaputra and Assam may become dry.”
