Holi Festival of Colour Celebrated With Fervour In Guwahati City

GUWAHATI: Assam’s cultural hub, Jyoti Chitraban marked the festival of Holi with musical concert ranging from traditional Holi sangeet to modern EDM music showcasing festivities and splashing of colors amidst the presence of stalwarts of Assamese Film Industry.

Also known as the festival of colors, Holi marks the end of winter and beginning of spring season. While it is predominantly celebrated in India and Nepal, the festival, these days, is widely celebrated in other Asian and Western countries owing to the presence of Indian diasporas in these regions.

The event was graced by Manju Bora, Hemanta Kumar Das, Munna Ahmed, Dr Jahanara Begum, Bhupen Kaman, Monjul Boruah, Deep Choudhury, Kangkan Deka, Jhulan Krishna Mahanta, Gargee Mahanta, Deepak Kumar Ray, Kishore Sharma, Amitabh Rajkhowa, Mala Goswami, Narayan Shil, Rajiv Kro, Prerana Barbarooah, Jun Moni Devi Khound , Gitanjali’ A Nayar, Kabita Deka, Junu Das Saikia, Amardip Gogoi, Debajit Gayan, and many stalwarts of Assamese film industry.

Along with the staff of Jyoti Chitraban, the students and faculties of the premiere film institute of Assam, Dr Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute also took an active part in the event. The event started with traditional folk holi sangeet followed by live EDM music concert by Assamese EDM music sensation and the archive head of Jyoti Chitraban, Axl Hazarika.

The city also saw fervent Holi celebrations in Fancy Bazaar, Ulubari, Khanapara, Bharalamukh and other areas, where crowds of youngsters and elderly alike were seen enthusiastically dowsing in the spirit of the festival.
