House panel recommends e-vehicles for Majuli

GUWAHATI: Under the Project Green Majuli, the Departmentally-related Standing Committee of the Assam Legislative Assembly has recommended the use of e-vehicles in Majuli so as to create a carbon neutral ecosystem in the island district.

The Committee has recommended the purchase of ten e-vehicles worth Rs 13 crore for the district, along with charging infrastructure. Since Majuli is a river island, the pollution level is very low there.
