GUWAHATI: ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth the CSR arm of ICICI Bank and its group companies has signed an MoU with the Office of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force (PCCF and HoFF), Department of Environment and Forest, Government of Assam for working together on Conservation and Environment in the forests and national parks of Assam, on February 2. Both institutions would also be working together on sustainable livelihood activities for the socio-economic development of communities living around the fringe areas. The MoU was signed in Guwahati by M. K. Yadava, IFS, PCCF and HoFF, Department of Environment and Forest, Government of Assam and Anuj Agarwal, Chief Operating Officer, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth.

ICICI Foundation has been working in twenty-two forest geographies across India. The organization has rich experience in working on issues like wildlife conservation, grassland development, habitat restoration, water management, climate change, sustainable livelihood development of communities dependent on forest resources etc.

The mission of the Department of Environment and Forests, Assam is to protect and improve the environment, to safeguard the forests and wildlife of the State of Assam, to preserve and add new dimensions to the rich heritage of composite culture of Assam state, to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures. Under this MoU, both organizations would be working together in areas like wildlife conservation, environment conservation, grassland management, weed management, strengthening patrolling and wildlife monitoring, promoting eco-tourism, mitigating human-wildlife conflict, initiatives for the welfare of the communities living around the fringe areas of forests etc.

The event was also attended by Vaibhav Mathur, Field Director, Manas Tiger Reserve, Vikas Mathur, State Head (Northeast), ICICI Bank, Suketu Kumar, Head of Operations, ICICI Foundation and Deepanjan Biswas, zonal Head- East, ICICI foundation.
