GUWAHATI: An illegal hill mining dumper was seized in Rani that was cutting off the hills of the location. Locals complained that the dumper has been cutting off sand and stones worth lakhs of rupees illegally in broad daylight right in front of the office of the Forest Officer. Although forest officials have been regularly conducting investigations, they have been unsuccessful in their attempts. On Friday morning, East Kamrup Forest Division Ranger Manuranjan Barman along with a team seized an illegal sand and stones laden dumper (AS 01 GC 7664). The ranger commented that the seized material is worth around Rs 25 thousand.
