GUWAHATI: As a part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a drawing competition on "Freedom Movement of India" was organized by Raj Bhavan in association with Gauhati Artists' Guild in Raj Bhavan premises today.

It is to be mentioned that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of the nation's people, culture and achievements.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor said, "This Mahotsav is dedicated to all sections of the people of our country as well as to those who are instrumental in making India a world leader. It is also a celebration to rededicate ourselves to the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat."

Prof. Mukhi also expressed happiness to see the children translating their imagination of India's independence through their art. He said, "The competition is an opportunity for the children to pour their imagination and thoughts on canvas and imbue their hearts with patriotic fervour. I am extremely delighted and proud to have witnessed the children embellish the canvas with patriotic hues. I am certain that the competition nicely fructified the purpose of fostering the nationalistic spirit and the essence of oneness among the student."

The Governor also congratulated all the winners and the participants of the competition and asked them to dream big and focus on their goals. He also asked them to initiate their effort in line with the spirit of 'Nation First' and work individually and collectively towards the bigger goal of making India self-reliant.

The drawing competition saw the participation of 50 students from Class 7 to Class 12. Two groups were formed, Group A and Group B. Group A was from Class 7 to 9 and Group B from Class 10 to 12. The first, second and third prize winners from both the groups were awarded a trophy and a certificate.

The First lady of Assam Prem Mukhi, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary of Gauhati Artists' Guild Kishore Kumar Das, members of Gauhati Artists' Guild, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan along with the students were present at the function, a press release said.
