Indefinite Strike Calls off Following Assurance In Front of Bijuli Bhawan

GUWAHATI: An indefinite strike was staged in front of the Bijuli Bhawan on Wednesday by the All Assam Casual Bill Clerk/Meter Reader Workers’ Association.

The Indefinite Strike was in regards to certain discrepancies of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) regarding an advertisement on August 14, 2018 where the number of recruitments for experienced temporary members, was not mentioned. An exam that was supposed to be held for the experienced workers on February 17, 2019, got delayed owing to unavoidable circumstances. The strike was called off after assurance by the APDCL authorities to fulfill their demands. Secretary of the Association, Hemanta Bora said, “The APDCL has assured that the number of post allotment will be revealed before March 12, along with separate examinations for experienced and fresher. As such, we jointly decided to revoke the strike.”
