GUWAHATI: The police is yet to trace the seven-month-old infant named Priyam Kalita who went missing from the paediatric ward of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) early on Wednesday.

According to police sources, footage of a woman who kidnapped the infant has been captured on 12 CCTV cameras at the GMCH premises, but the fact that she was wearing a mask is delaying her identification. The police is hopeful of tracing the infant as well as the kidnapper quite soon, the sources added.

It may be recalled that Priyam Kalita had been admitted to the GMCH on March 24 with fever and anemia. In the wee hours of Wednesday, Priyam's father gave the child to an unknown lady for consoling the crying child. Both the parents fell asleep between 4:30 am and 5:30 am. Later, when they woke up they found that the child was missing along with the lady.

Following the incident, two missing reports were filed separately by the child's father and the hospital authority at the Bhangagarh Police Station.
