GUWAHATI: To address the adverse effects of the population growth and to raise awareness about population control in terms of the two-child policy among the people in India, Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF) is taking many initiatives. One of that is to organize lecture series by eminent thinkers and academicians. In the continuation of the lecture series initiative, a lecture was organized on January 17 via Zoom meeting app, which was aired live on Facebook. This time speaker was Professor Sunil Khijwania from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, stated a release.

Professor Khijwania discussed, in detail, various aspects of the population explosion and its impact on nature. His talk was centered predominantly on seven aspects: deforestation, air and water pollution, climate change and global warming, depletion of the Ozone layer, land/soil degradation, extinction of species from the earth, and the socio-cultural fabric and demographic feature of a nation.

He highlighted the exponential growth of earth's population, which is still continuing by 80 million/year as per the latest UN study.

He stressed that only that country will be successful and attain supremacy, whose citizens have immense faith on the country's history, culture, values, contributions and dedicate himself/herself with tan-man-dhan for the development of the nation. The need of the hour is to follow the great teachings of our Vedas and Upanishads, such as Ten TyaktenBhoonjeetha, he added.
