JD(U) assures AGP to vote against CAB' 16 at Rajya Sabha Budget Session

Guwahati: At a time when there is a rampant protest going on the streets against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016, JD(U) National Spokesperson KC Tyagi in a meeting held at Asom Gana Parishad office on Monday extended their support to AGP against the bill.

In the meeting, JD(U) assured the AGP that all the six MPs of JD(U) would vote against the bill at the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming Budget Session.

It may be mentioned that the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 would be tabled at the upcoming Parliament Budget session on January 31.

Also, the AGP and the NPP (National People’s Party) of Meghalaya have come closer for a united fight against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

The stage, it seems, is set for the teaming up of the two parties when NPP president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was seen in tune with the AGP team led by its president Atul Bora.

AGP along other Northeastern political parties will be holding a meeting on the bill at Taj Vivanta Hotel on January 29.

It has also come to light that meeting will be joined by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Mizoram Chief Minister Joramthangma along with AGP and other Northeastern state's political leaders.

It may further be mentioned that a team of the AGP earlier met Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma at Tura on last Friday.

The AGP was in favour of a joint movement against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 from all the seven north-eastern States. The AGP even requested Sangma to lead the movement against the Bill from the front.
