A 30-member State Executive Council of Assam was formed by the Janta Dal (United) Assam Pradesh. It also appointed a State convenor for minority and women cells

GUWAHATI, Jan 16: The Janta Dal (United) Assam Pradesh has formed a 30-member State Executive Council (EC), appointed a State convener each for its minority and women cells, besides appointing 15 district conveners in the State.

Addressing the media at Dispur Press Club, national secretary and in-charge of Assam unit of the party Sanjay Verma stated, "We will field candidates in the Assam Legislative Assembly election this year. We will have to encash wrath of the people of the State towards the ruling alliance in Assam." He also said that he had conversations with the Adivasi, Tribal and Bihari communities of Assam. "We'll work for the development of these communities," he said.

While Yahya Ahmed Barbhuyan from Hojai district was made the State convener for the Minority Cell, Munmun Deori from Kamrup (M) was made State convener for the Women Cell. Lakhi Nath Khonikar from Dibrugarh, Afroj Khan from Tinsukia, Polash Dutta from Jorhat are some of the newly-appointed district conveners of the party.
