Jorabat police seized 40 bags of smuggled supari

GUWAHATI/DIMORIA: The Jorabat police on Friday intercepted a truck (AS01NC 7542) and seized 40 bags of smuggled Myanmarese supari (dried areca nut). According to police sources, the truck was travelling from Byrihat to Garoimari, adding that the seized supari is valued at around Rs 10 lakh. One Jamir Ali of Barpeta has been arrested in this connection.

The Crime Branch of Guwahati Police has taken over the case as it is already probing a similar case, the sources added.
