KA DC covering up failure : RYMAP

Guwahati, June 10: Condemnation of the ghastly killing of two youths from Guwahati at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong on Friday night has poured in from various corners of Assam. Organising a press meet in Guwahati on Sunday, Rashtriya Yuva Morcha, Assam Pradesh (RYMAP)president Rajib Kakoti has expressed deep sorrow over the incident while taking a dig at the district administration for its failure in providing security to the people.

The Morcha has alleged that the following the killing of the two youths, the Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner said that the ghastly killing could have been avoided if the two youths from Guwahati had informed the Karbi Anglong administration about their presence in the district. The morcah has termed the statement of the Deputy Commissioner as absurd and unacceptable on the ground that people of one district must be free to visit another district within the State. The Morcha has termed the statement of the Deputy Commissioner as a feeble attempt to cover up the failure of the district administration to provide security to the people.

The Morcha also opined that the incident has once again proved that superstition (like witch hunting etc) continue to rule the roost in districts like Karbi Anglong. The Morcha is of the view that instead of blowing its own trumpet to a deafening pitch, the government should concentrate more on removal of superstition from the midst of the people districts like Karbi Anglong.

The Morcha has demanded that all persons involved in the gruesome incident be brought to book and extreme punishment be meted out. The administration and the police have also been asked to be alert so that the culprits do not find leeway to slip out.
