Kamrup DC Pallav Gopal Jha reviews central jail and wards

GUWAHATI: Pallav Gopal Jha, DC, Kamrup (M), along with officials of District Administration, visited the Central Jail and inspected the wards, hospital, and facilities, besides interacting with inmates and taking stock of their suggestions and issues.

The DC inaugurated a drinking water facility and handed over essential medical equipment to the jail, which was obtained through the contributions of various organisations. Addressing an open house with inmates, the DC deliberated on the need for humanitarian touch and reform.

Inmates of the Central Jail rendered a mellifluous cultural performance. Capacity building and vocational, recreational, and literary activities are also being undertaken in the jail, which are being planned to be upscaled and augmented in the days to come.
