 GUWAHATI: The Kamrup District has attained fifth position after Sivsagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, and Majuli in Gunotsa’23, held in the month of January 2023, the result of which was declared by the Chief Minister of Assam on Tuesday. A total of 2,129 schools covering 1,89,911 students in the district were evaluated through the Gunotsav-23. After self-evaluation on the part of the school, the overall evaluation process was completed by 854 external evaluators with the help of 227 liaison officers. The evaluation process was done on the basis of 90 per cent in scholastic participation, five per cent in co-scholastic participation, and five percent community participation.

In the results declared, 732 schools in the district got an A+. While in Gunotsav-22, 344 schools in the district could attain an A+. On the other hand, 939 schools have received an A grade against 924 in Gunotsav-22. Moreover, the district has immensely improved its position by decreasing the number of B, C, and D grade schools considerably. In Gunotsav-23, 221 schools got a B, 33 schools got a C, and 14 schools got a D. In the earlier Gunotsav, the number of B, C, and D grade schools in the district was 603,231 and 101, respectively. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup, Keerthi Jalli, congratulated the teacher, students, guardians, and other stakeholder groups for attaining an improved position and hoped that with the collective efforts of all, the district could have every possibility and potentiality to attain a top position in the coming Gunotsav, stated a press release.

The Inspector of Schools, Kamrup, Apurba Thakuria, also expressed gratitude to teachers, students, guardians, and stakeholders for contributing a lot towards attaining these performances and hoped that with the active cooperation of all, the district could have every possibility to attain a higher rank in the coming Gunotsav.
