Kamrup (M) admin withdraws Containment Zone orders in 27 areas. Full list here

The strategy to mark areas as 'Containment Zone' has been devised by the Centre to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission

Guwahati: The Kamrup (Metro) district administration on Thursday, July 9, has untagged as many as 27 Containment Zone areas in the district after no new COVID-19 cases were detected recently.

Notably, all these areas were marked as Containment Zones on June 24 last, days before the metropolitan area entered lockdown as a means to break the chain of transmission.

The list of these areas is as follows:

  1. Sri Ram Path, Lalganesh
  2. Sribhumi Nagar, Lalganesh
  3. Lalmati-II
  4. Nilachal Parking, Beharbari
  5. Prakash Kata, Lalmati
  6. Lakhimandir Path, Borsajai
  7. Near Bishnu Mandir, Bhetapara
  8. Champak Nagar, Bhetapara
  9. Khangwakuna Hill Top
  10. Near Lakhimandir, Bongaon
  11. Lalmati, near Petrol Pump
  12. Ayurvedic Research Centre, Borsojai
  13. South Sarania, near ISKCON Mandir
  14. Ananda Nagar
  15. Hengerabari
  16. Trishna Residency, Kundil Nagar
  17. Regent Paradise, Ghoramara
  18. Namghar Path, Hengerabari
  19. Borbari, VIP Road
  20. Indrapur, Bhangagarh
  21. Sahab Tilla, Arunachal Path, Zoo Road
  22. Subham Builwell, Zoo Road
  23. CDA Quarter, Satgaon
  24. Games Village, B-7 1st Floor
  25. Sribhumi Path, Adagudam
  26. Colony Bazar, Kahilipara
  27. Sankarnagar, Adagudam

Meanwhile, the district administration has added one more area as a Containment Zone after the detection of COVID-19 positive cases. Tsangpo Apartment in Krishna Nagar of Chandmari area in Guwahati, Assam, has been marked as a Containment Zone.

During the period of Unlock 2.0, the future steps include a sharp focus on containment and surveillance including demarcation of Containment Zones, the Containment Zones to be notified on the websites.

The Government's health ministry has placed great emphasis on strict perimeter control in these areas, with only essential activities to be allowed. Moreover, the Government has resolved to initiate intensive contact tracing house-to-house search/surveillance in these areas so that the chain of transmission can be snapped. Also, great emphasis has been placed on the identification of Buffer Zones to be identified outside the Containment Zones to contain potential new cases.
