GUWAHATI: With the announcement of Unlock 1 and people coming out of their houses for different purpose, the risk of spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the city has raised.

The Kamrup (Metro) District Administration has set up 60 new COVID Consultation Centers in Guwahati.

People seemed to be concerned as they opted voluntarily and waited in queues for testing in various COVID screening centers set up in S. B. Deorah College, and Rup Nagar ASDC colony.

Dr Suman Pal, a doctor on duty at S.B. Deorah College said that they have tested a total of 13 people on Tuesday morning and one among them was found positive.

"Under the Deorah College we have three new centers in Rupnagar L P School, Bapuji L P School and Lachit Nagar LP School. First we do rapid antigen test, if anyone is found positive then we send him/her to the respective centers as directed by the administration and if anyone is found negative they have to go through RTPCR," said Dr Pal.

"We try to complete the testing within 12:30 pm and after that the team goes to a particular spot for Rapid Antigen Test. The positive ones are brought to the centers in 108 ambulance and the negative people with symptoms are asked to come again for test," he added.

One Asha Karmi in Rupnagar said that people are cooperating with the teams in the area and everyone is coming for tests voluntarily. A person coming for test said that he had come for the test to clear his fear. Another person said, "We should be concerned about our health. The government has allowed us to come out from our homes to do test so we are coming for the sake of our own health."
