GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (metro) Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with officials of the District Transport Office (DTO) and representatives of cab associations and cab service providers like Ola, Uber and Rapido on Monday.

In the meeting, the representatives of cab associations and cab service providers submitted a memorandum to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) regarding their problems and demands. The DC directed the RTA to regulate the commission rates charged by app-based cab services.

Recently, the District Transport Enforcement branch had announced that riders and drivers of app-based cab services would have to wear uniforms from June 15. The DC directed the RTA to ensure that cab services issue uniforms to their riders and drivers. In the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) who were present gave a deadline of 10 days to the cab service providers to resolve issues between cab users and drivers.

The DC also directed the RTA to ensure that cab service providers do not hike their fares for certain areas or during extreme weather conditions like rain or during traffic congestion.
