GUWAHATI: The Kamrup (metro) district administration has issued a warning to luxury hotel Taj Vivanta that strict action will be taken against the hotel management if COVID-19 protocol is violated.

Contractor Pankaj Sadhanidhar had thrown a birthday bash for his daughter at Taj Vivanta on October 1. The event continued till late at night, violating COVID protocol and curfew timings. Rajkanya Baruah was allegedly returning from that event in an inebriated condition when she hit nine labourers at Rukminigaon with her car. The Kamrup (metro) district administration had asked Taj Vivanta to submit the CCTV camera footage and the guest list of the event that was organized in the hotel on October 1 evening. The district administration was not satisfied with the details submitted by the hotel management the first time. The management was asked to give another reply. The second time, the hotel management admitted that the event was held till late at night, violating the curfew timings. However, there were children in the event and COVID appropriate behaviour was followed.

After this, the Kamrup (metro) district administration decided to issue a warning to the hotel management that next time COVID protocol is violated, strict action will be taken against the luxury hotel.
