Kamrup (M) SDO (Civil) ordered magisterial inquiries into two custodial deaths

GUWAHATI: Kamrup (M) SDO (Civil) Jay Shivani has ordered two separate magisterial-level inquiries into the custodial deaths of Kamen Saura and Stephen Munda.

Kamen Saura was in the custody of Deepsikha Hospice, Palliative Care Centre at Mirza. The convict serving lifetime died at the care centre on October 1, 2022.

The SDO (Civil) has asked Assistant Commissioner Krishnesha Bora of the Kamrup (M) district to inquire into the incident and submit the report within ten days.

On the other hand, Stephen Mumda, who had been serving life, died at the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College & Hospital) on September 9, 2022, in custody. SDO (Civil) Jay Shivani has asked assistant commissioner Hemanta Dutta to inquire into the death and submit the report within ten days.
