PALASBARI: The Panchayat representatives as well as the health workers have a major role to play to make the district free from coronavirus. This was stated by Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu while addressing a COVID review meeting held at Azara Revenue Circle Office on Monday. The DC also reviewed the COVID scenario in the Azara Circle area. Pegu mentioned in the meeting that the district administration is all set to vaccinate every citizen in a phased manner. As part of the vaccination process, the DC informed that initially the persons who are found COVID negative and those above 45 years of age would be vaccinated. The COVID-positive persons would be vaccinated after three months, he said.

Azara Circle Officer Mrinal Bora mentioned the progress of the vaccination process at five villages under the circle in the meeting. Bora informed that 30,000 persons of five revenue villages under the circle have been vaccinated so far.

The review meeting was attended by ADCs Gunajit Roy Choudhury and Sarmistha Bora, Kamrup Joint DHS (Director of Health Service) Dr Gunindra Deb Sarma, Kamrup District Project Manager, all presidents and secretaries of the Gaon Panchayats, among others.
