Kamrup (Metro) district administration declared two new containment zones

GUWAHATI: Amid an unprecedented surge of COVID-19 cases across Assam, another area, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Group Centre in 9-Mile area has been declared as a containment zone by the Kamrup (Metro) District Administration on Saturday. Kendriya Vidyalaya CRPF Group Centre to the north, Doctor's Residences and barrack number 6 and 7 to the south, Amerigog Hill side to the east, and staff quarters to the west have been marked as the extremities of the containment zone. The district administration's order marking the area as a containment zone, came into effect at 2 pm, and will remain in place until further notice.

According to a notification issued by Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, "The step has been taken in view of the of the detection of 6 Covid-19 positive patients at CRPF Group Centre, 9th Mile in the Kamrup Metropolitan district, in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of Covid-19 virus in the said area."

Another notification from the District Administration stated that after the detection of COVID-19 positive patient at Dinesh Ojha Path, Tarun Nagar has been declared as containment zone. The boundary of the containment zone is Ashirbad Apartment to the north, Assam Flour Mill Campus, GS Road to the south, HP Apartment to the east and residence of Chittaranjan Sarmah and Aphrodite Beauty Parlour to the west.
