Kamrup metro district gearing up for panchayat polls

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metro district administration has been gearing up for the ensuing panchayat poll which is scheduled in two phases across the State.

In accordance with the local election, the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup metro district Virendra Mittal has convened a meeting with various political parties on Thursday at his office premises and discussed various ways and means to conduct a fair and peaceful election. During the meeting, the DC gathered suggestions and opinions from the representatives of the political parties.

Notably, the nomination forms for the candidatures of the Zila Parishad and Anchalik panchayat and Gaon Panchayat presidents can be obtained from the DC’s office while the nominations forms for the Gaon Panchayat members will be issued at the respective Block Development Offices (BDO). The submission of duly filled-up nomination forms will be accepted from November 5 to 15 while the scrutiny will be conducted on November 16. Individual candidature can withdraw their nomination on November 19.
