Khilonjia Adhikar Morcha leader arrested on charges of Human Trafficking, Case Registered

Guwahati: Dispur Police based on an FIR lodged by a lady at Kaki Police Station under Hojai District arrested Khilonjia Adhikar Morcha leader Amitav Sharma on charges of Human Trafficking from Guwahati on Friday.

As police reports, Amitav Sharma had allegedly sold a lady to some miscreants in Nepal.

Police FIR report, Amitav Sharma got introduce to the lady over Facebook two months back and invited her to Guwahati for an official meeting of the organisation on January 24, 2019. Later, the leader convinced her to come with him to Nepal where he allegedly tortured her and sold her off to some miscreants.

Interestingly, the lady was rescued from Nepal on February 7, 2019. The lady later lodged a case at Kaki Police Station against Amitav Sharma on February 12.

It may be mentioned that a team of Kaki Police visited Dispur Police Station and took the custody of Amitav Sharma under case No 10/19.

Meanwhile, Khilonjia Adhikar Morcha leader Amitav Sharma claimed the charges against him are false and further alleged it to be a conspiracy by Maoists.
