Left Democratic Manch Demands High-Level Enquiry Into Hooch Tragedy

GUWAHATI: Condemning the recent hooch incident in Upper Assam, the Left Democratic Manch, Assam has submitted a memorandum to the governor stating three demands.

The Manch has asked for an enquiry in High Court regarding the deaths related to the tragedy. “Be it a government official, police officials or whomever, the people involved should be adequately punished”, a member of the Manch demanded.

A relief of Rs 10 lakh for the family members of the deceased families has been demanded as the tragedy has left some young children orphaned. Along with claiming the lives of hundreds, the tragedy has stolen away the sole bread earner of many families. As such, a completed ban of illegal liquor was the third demand of the Manch.
