Lung Care Foundation And Health Care Without Harm Are To Fight Air Pollution

GUWAHATI: The Lung Care Foundation, in association with Health Care without Harm, is going to fight against air pollution. As an initiative they are going to launch the Doctors for Clean Air, Assam and Northeast India on July 21 at Nedfi House here. The Doctors for Clean Air is of the view that clean air and healthy environment is the best legacy that one can offer to one’s future generation.

In a press meet here on Sunday, Dr. Hitesh Baruah MD, Nemcare Hospital; Dr. Rashna Das Hazarika, Director and pediatrics, Health City Hospital, Guwahati along with Dr. Nareswar Sarmah, Dr. Anjali Boruah, Dr. Meher Baruah, Dr, Ajit Dutta took part and talked about health impact of air pollution. As per the report of National Health Profile, 2018, released by the Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI) Assam had 20,667 acute respiratory Infection (ARI) cases and 200 deaths in 2016. This figure increased to 22,834 ARI cases with 225 deaths in 2017. Now Assam is said to be the most polluted North Eastern State in the country. Dr. Rashna Das Hazarika said, “Slow driving causes more air pollution and diesel motors are mostly polluted ones”. They said that they are ready to fight against air pollution and in order to educate the masses they will take all necessary initiatives as much as possible.
