Make India An Ideal Place For Rest of The World: Sarbananda Sonowal

GUWAHATI: State BJP observed Gandhi Jayanti at the city here on Wednesday while Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal urged the people of the State to make Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of making India a ‘model city’ successful.

Speaking at the Gandhi Sankalpa Yatra organized by State BJP at Bonda, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and green India could be realized in its true spirit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in his very first Independence Day speech in 2014 to make India clean and green by 2019 synchronizing with 150th birth anniversary of Gandhi and it turned into a mass movement, he stated.

“If the Swaccha Bharat Abhiyaan, tree plantation, yoga, water conservation, Fit India Movement and plastic ban initiatives are truly followed by every citizen, India will truly become the ideal for the rest of the world,” said the Chief Minister.

During the programme, the Chief Minister collected roadside litter and distributed jute bags. CM legal advisor, Shantanu Bharali, Dispur MLA Atul Bora, and various other BJP leaders were present during the event.
