Maligaon Hit-and-Run Case Accused Surrenders at Jalukbari Police Station

GUWAHATI, Aug 20: The prime accused of the Maligaon hit-and-run case, Abinash Sarma surrendered at the Jalukbari police station on Sunday night amidst rigorous protests in connection with the case.

According to a police source, Abinash hit three bikers from behind with his WagonR vehicle bearing registration no AS-01BP-7138 at near NFR headquarters, Maligaon on August 14 following which one Ganesh Rao succumbed to death. Apparently, Abinash fled from the spot and was allegedly absconding ever since the fateful incident.

However, after surrendering to the police, nullifying the allegations of dissertation leveled against him, Abinash informed the police that soon after the incident, he went to Mumbai to attend his mother who has been undergoing treatment there. Notably, just a day after his surrender to the police, Abinash got bail on Monday.
