Man assaults an on-duty police official at Beltola locality

GUWAHATI: In an unusual turn of events, a man assaulted an on-duty police official in the Beltola locality of the city on the night of Friday. The perpetrator identified as one Padum Kalita was under the influence of alcohol when he assaulted the official.

According to reports, a quarrel had broken out between a local shopkeeper and a customer in the Beltola area of Guwahati. The police official Satyajit Das was in the vicinity and attempted to stop the quarrel between them. This is when the accused in an inebriated state attacked Satyajit Das.
