Man Beaten to Death in Guwahati, Incident Captured by CCTV Camera

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident, a man was brutally beaten to death by an unidentified person in Guwahati's Maligaon area on November 5.

Notably, the entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed nearby.

According to reports, the deceased person identified as Tarun Deka was working as a security guard of Maligaon Bazar was beaten to death with a piece of wood by an unidentified person.

As per the footage retrieved by Guwahati police officials, two men were seen drunk walking towards Bipul Complex and one of the men was holding a wooden bat. Later, the man holding the wooden bat was seen pushing the other man into the entrance of the complex.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased security guard was recovered from that same lane during the early hours of Saturday. Visuals of one of the suspects were visible on the CCTV footage of the Bipul Complex. He was sporting a black t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

Speaking to the media, a local person in the area said, "The deceased person has been known to us for the last 20 years. He was a plumber and also the security guard in Maligaon Bazar."

"There has been a rise in criminal activities in the city, thus, I suspect this to be a pre-planned murder," added the local.

Following the incident, the Jalukbari police have launched an investigation into the case.

The identity of the person has not been ascertained yet by the police.
