Man behind 'life threat' to Himanta Biswa Sarma arrested

GUWAHATI: Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has allegedly received death threat from a former Army official named Tirtha Chaliha through the social media. Chaliha also allegedly threatened to kill the minister's children. He, however, has already been arrested.

According to the social media posts of Chaliha, his wife and family members have been threatened by the Bihpuria Police. He also said that if his family is harmed by anyone, the Bihpuria police will be responsible for that.

Further a post from Chaliha makes it clear that he knows the history of the officer-in-charge of the Bihpuria police station and said that he was transferred to Bihpuria after 'it was proved that he had taken bribes'.

Later, Chaliha was arrested from the Satgaon area in Guwahati by the Crime Branch.
