Man killed in an accident at Panikhaiti under Kamrup (Metro) district

GUWAHATI: A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a truck (AS13C1721) at Panikhaiti under Kamrup (Metro) district on Monday night. Following the accident, the driver drove the truck away from the spot in a huff. However, he was later held by the police and his truck has been seized.

The deceased has been identified as Mahadeb Gautam, a resident of Panikhaiti. Outraged over the incident, locals of the area staged a protest against the 'reckless driving' of the trucks that ply in the area. Later, the situation was controlled by senior police officials.
