Martyr’s Day Observed At Janata Bhawan

GUWAHATI: Martyr’s Day was observed on Wednesday at Janata Bhawan along with the rest of the country in memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom. In connection to that, a ceremonial function was held in front of CM’s Block at Janata Bhawan.

The Martyr’s Day programme begins with the laying of floral wreaths at the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi led by the Chief Secretary Alok Kumar and other dignitaries. Salami Do and Ulte Shastr were performed by the Guards followed by Shok Shastr that lasted for a minute. Last Post was played by the buglers.

A siren was sounded where two minutes silence was observed to pay respect to the Martyrs of India’s freedom movement.

Along with Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, the programme was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Bora, Commissioner and Secretary Dr M Angamuthu, Commissioner and Secretary Preetom Saikia and other Officers and staff of the Assam Secretariat.
