Measures to improve air quality of Guwahati discussed

 GUWAHATI: An awareness meeting was organized by the Pollution Control Board, Assam in collaboration with Guwahati Refinery, IOCL at L& 0 Centre of Guwahati Refinery, Noonmati on Tuesday.

Around 100 representative of various industries of the Kamrup (metro) district participated in the meeting. The meeting was held to improve the air quality of Guwahati city with participantion of the industries.

Gokul Bhuyan, Additional Chief Environmental Engineer-cum-Regional Head, Regional Office, Guwahati Pollution Control Board, Assam delivered a power-point presentation on ‘Air pollution control measures for industries’. He discussed at length about various air pollution control devices necessary for abatement of pollution from industries and he emphasized implementation of 75 action points of Mission LiFE by all citizens for energy saving, phasing out of single-use plastic, reduction of waste, water saving and sustainable development.

Gautam Goyari, Chief General Manager, Guwahati Refinery, explained various air pollution control devices adopted by Guwahati Refinery and share his field experience pertaining to pollution control measures with the participants.

Dr Bijay Shankar Goswami, Assistant Professor, B.Barooah College, deliver his presentation as a resource person. His presentation was very illustrative regarding air pollution control measures for industries, carbon footprint and green belt development. During interactive session, many participants shared their various views and experience and express concern for air pollution of the city and appreciated the Regional Office, Guwahati, Pollution Control Board, Assam and Guwahatl Refinery for organizing the meeting for improvement of air quality of the city, stated a press release.
