GUWAHATI: Media Trust, Assam will digitize the history of 150 and 175 years of newspapers of the State on the occasion of 175 years celebration of newspapers of the State.

This was decided in an executive meeting of the Media Trust chaired by Prasanta Jyoti Baruah at its Rupnagar office here on Sunday. "The books Asomor Batori Kakot- Alochonir Dersha Basariya Itihas (History of 150 Years of Newspapers-Magazines of Assam) and Asomor Batori Kakotor Esha Poysattar Basariya Barnil Itihas (Colourful History of 175 years of Assam newspapers) will be published in digital format in a joint initiative with Mahabahu, a literary as well as cultural organization on the occasion of 175 years celebration of newspapers of the State," a press note of the Media Trust said. The meeting also decided to celebrate the 175 years of Assamese newspaper in Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat and Bongaigaon along with its head office in Guwahati. The meeting unanimously elected senior journalist and trustee body Ramani Barman as the new executive trustee of the organization following the death of former executive trustee Dr Abu Hanifa. The meeting also approved the 'modified deed' of the trust and decided to register it with the authorities concerned. The meeting also decided to improve the infrastructure of the organization's office complex and the journalists' guest house immediately.

Senior journalists Tajuddin Ahmed, Nirmal Kumar Rai, Iqbal Ahmed, Dilip Sharma, Samudra Gupta Kashyap and Dilip Chandan were also present in the meeting.
