GUWAHATI: The Assam government has directed all the government medical college & hospitals to share COVID-19 related information and other aspects to public via social media.

Further as per the directions of the state government, all the eight medical colleges and hospitals are now gearing up to share each and every bit of information on COVID-19 and also share positive stories and solicit feedback and suggestions for the public.

Meanwhile, the social media handles of the government medical colleges are:

1. Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) - Twitter handle @gmchgauhati, however, the Facebook page will be available soon

2. Assam Medical College & Hospital, (AMCH), Dibrugarh- Facebook Page - Assam Medical College and Hospital while the Twitter handle is @AMCHDibrugarh

It is to be mentioned here that earlier on May 18, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta along with other senior health officials held a meeting and it was decided that all medical college in the state should have their own Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The Chief Minister also urged the Health Minister to set up Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) units at the all government medical college and hospitals and all the principals of the respective hospitals should monitor the same.

Notably, on May 23, total new COVID-19 cases detected in Assam stands at 3563 and 72 deaths registered.
