Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary reviews ASTC superintendents' performance

GUWAHATI: Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary reviewed the performance and functioning of divisional superintendents of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara on Wednesday.

Directing the Superintendents to work diligently and dedicatedly, the Transport Minister said, 'ASTC is the pride of Assam and it is our duty to give the best service to the general public.' Patowary also asked them to explore areas for growth and expansion to increase revenue for ASTC and asked AP Tiwari, MD, ASTC to dedicate a senior officer of the head office to monitor their revenue performance on monthly basis. He cited that Assam is now the leading state in implementing the online services in the transport sector in the country, for which the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways has declared Assam as the model state. Minister Patowary added that important divisions like Tinsukia, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Tezpur, Bongaigaon etc. must innovate and collaborate with the Public Sector Undertakings, educational institutions and hospitals by providing ASTC vehicles to them and make maximum use of profitable bus routes to improve revenue.
